ELDER CARE ALLIANCE
Mercy Retirement & Care Center Renovation

The existing Mercy Retirement and Care Center is a continuing care retirement center providing residential care for seniors with different levels of needs, including assisted living and skilled nursing.

The project included renovations within the existing assisted living building, a new memory care facility, as well as a new, accessible entry to the site. The project will combine the existing units to create larger studios and one bedroom units, each with its own shower, replacing the existing shared showers for residents.

In addition, a new building will include 50 secure units for memory care residents. Existing spaces, such as the multipurpose room, salon and a variety of activity spaces, will be relocated into the new building as well. The project includes secure outdoor common spaces.

The work, on each floor of the assisted living tower, will be completed one floor at a time to minimize disruption and displacement of residents.

Project site safety, including interim life safety and infection control, were important aspects of the project. Jtec HCM addressed the protection of employees, patients and visitors against fire-related emergencies, dust, noise and debris. These impacts will be monitored and controlled throughout the project’s duration with actions taken to mitigate any impacts.
